On the 19th of May we have launched our OpenStack Compute platform. Over the summer hundreds of customers have put the platform into use running more than a thousand servers at the moment.
The initial prices and packages were determined on a very conservative basis. Now we are getting an increasing amount of information regarding the actual performance of the platform it turns out to be so high that we can start using somewhat less conservative assumptions. This means our cost prices reduces and we can pass that advantage on to our customers. We implemented a CPU upgrade last month. This time we want to adjust our virtual server packages (Flavors) and the pricing of Volumes (extra harddisks) in favor of our customers.
It turns out we can provision more storage than expected on our plaftorm without impacting the high storage performance we require. This means we can upgrade the harddisks of the smallest four Standard Flavors. As we want to stimulate the storage of application data on flexible Volumes we have decided to reduce the prices for larger Flavors instead. For the largest flavor we will make an extra core available.
|Standard 1||1 GB||
||16 GB||200||1 Core||250 GB||€ 7,50|
|Standard 2||2 GB||
||32 GB||400||2 Cores||500 GB||€ 13,00|
|Standard 3||4 GB||
||64 GB||600||3 Cores||1000 GB||€ 23,00|
|Standard 4||8 GB||
||128 GB||800||4 Cores||2000 GB||€ 44,00|
|Standard 5||16 GB||128 GB||1000||5 Cores||4000 GB||
|Standard 6||32 GB||128 GB||1000||6 Cores||8000 GB||
|Standard 7||64 GB||128 GB||1000||
||8 Cores||16000 GB||€ 192,50|
Upgrading Existing Servers
You can upgrade the capacities of existing Standard 1, 2, 3 and 7 virtual server by upgrading them to the new flavor using the resize function. This will require a reboot however.
Small HD Flavors
Because harddisks can not be downgraded within the OpenStack platform we have created the Small HD (harddisk) flavors. These all feature 32 Gigabyte harddisk in order to facilitate downgrades. The other Small HD Flavors will be reduced in price, except for the larges Flavor that will receive an extra core.
|Small HD 3 New||4 GB||32 GB||600||3 Cores||2000 GB||€ 20,00|
|Small HD 4||8 GB||32 GB||600||4 Cores||2000 GB||
|Small HD 5||16 GB||32 GB||600||5 Cores||4000 GB||
|Small HD 6||32 GB||32 GB||600||6 Cores||8000 GB||
|Small HD 7||64 GB||32 GB||600||
||8 Cores||16000 GB||€ 177,50|
Volumes are stand-alone storage devices that can be allocated to virtual servers on a flexible basis. These are meant for the storage of application data so that virtual servers and their boot disks can be created and removed as required. Besides the changes to the Flavors above we will reduce the prices of Volumes and Volume Snapshot Storage with 20 to 25 percent.
|Volume size||Max IOPS||Prijs/m||Snapshots||Prijs/m|
||€ 1,04||8 GB||
||€ 2,00||16 GB||
||€ 3,84||32 GB||
||€ 7,36||64 GB||
||€ 14,08||128 GB||
||€ 26,88||256 GB||
||€ 51,20||512 GB||
||€ 97,28||1024 GB||
||€ 184,32||2048 GB||
We hope this price reduction further improves your OpenStack experience at CloudVPS!
