How did you set up High Availability?

Your instance will be placed on a redundant shared storage platform (ceph) based on Enterprise SSD’s. Because we always keep enough free capacity we can always failover your instance directly to another hypervisor. The instance will restart and won’t be available until after the failover has een detected and initiated. Furthermore, all our network components (routers, switches, etc) are N+1 equipped meaning that in the event of an outage of one device the other will take over.

We are also able to perform maintenance without downtime. Your instance will be migrated live if necessary. We perform a lot of live migrations on a daily basis to keep our environment stable and up to date. If there’s downtime involved we’ll always make sure our customers are notified up front.

To further improve the redundancy of our environment it is advised to build your application or service with redundancy in mind. For example, by setting up the instances spread over multiple datacenters (availability zones). This will allow you to perform maintenance and updates on your own applications without downtime too.
